Black and White: Meditations on Fear  address the fragile balance between illness and good health.  This work is frank recognition of my life
and personal challenges towards bouts of sickness.  Fears regarding the unknown can dominate a mindset that has incurred recurrent physical
and emotional trauma.  I address these fears by referencing my x-rays and MRI’s, medications and medical metaphors, to form a unique vocabulary
of abstracted object/mind/landscapes.  Viewing my own medical imagery has made me realize my inherent fear towards unpredictability.   The
simplified palette of black and white within this work, with glimpses of color and movement, show the struggle for balance and stability in health and
            acceptance, medically imaged and imagined.
Corroded, fluctuating surfaces suggest attempts to adapt in a constantly shifting world that glorifies
newness, efficiency, and the robotically human.  By acknowledging my reservations with equilibrium, I somehow conquer, or ease, the wrath which fears,
            if allowed, can maintain.
